Li Biao Percussion Group in Teatro Municipal

WITH A NEW SEASON OF SHOWS, THE TEATRO MUNICIPAL OF SANTIAGO RELEASED A LARGE PROGRAM WITH THREE MUSICAL REPRESENTATIONS, AS PART OF A NEW SEASON OF “EXTRAORDINARY SHOWS”.

SANTIAGO — From baroque to tango, from scholarly to popular music: a varied musical journey, full of rhythm will be offered by the Li Biao Percussion Group during a one time performance at the Teatro Municipal de Santiago on Wednesday May 28th.
Marimbas, vibraphones, timbales, drums, cymbals, gongs. The list goes on to include several more instruments, proof of the diversity and beauty that percussion music holds. All these rhythmic pyrotechnics will take the stage at Santiago’s Teatro Municipal.
The first show will be Li Biao Percussion Group on May 28th, then Joyce DiDonato on August 13th and Les Arts Florissants on October 20th.
Founded in 2005 by Li Biao – a chinese musician considered as one of the most important percussionists of today- this group of talented musicians blend many styles such as classical music, jazz, modern music, pop and even elements of traditional Chinese percussion. The group became very famous when they performed at the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games in Beijing back in 2008.
The recent tour of Li Biao Percussion Group in Europe was hailed by critics: “The music of Li Biao is like an overwhelming wave that reaches every corner of the theater with a moving pace,” said the Italian newspaper La Repubblica, while German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung said that: “the show provoked so much emotion within the audience.” After performing in Chile, the group will go to Brazil, Uruguay, Colombia and Argentina.”
Show will be on Wednesday, May 28th and will start at 19:00.
