Percussionist Li Biao and the Percussion Group of the Berliner Philharmoniker, as well as the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra - dubbed “a leader in Chinese music” – will bring together ‘the best of both worlds’, as they perform under the baton of Yan Huichang. Expect them to drum up a storm – it’s an experience definitely not to be missed!
Li Biao, the phenomenal percussionist who has performed for a worldwide audience with music East and West and to unanimous acclaim, will grace the Hong Kong stage again with the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra. Li is currently on the faculty of the Central Conservatory of Music in China and the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich. On this occasion, he will also be joined by the Philharmonic Percussion Group of Berlin, which is making its debut in Hong Kong, in an exciting interactive dialogue on percussion instruments. The Group is formed by preeminent percussionist from one of the world’s best orchestras, the Berlin Philharmonic. Rainer Seegers, its Principal Timpanist, will also be in Hong Kong for this concert.
The programme includes Vivaldi’s Baroque Suite, arranged by J.S. Bach, Tobias Broström’s Bridging the World, Thierry De-Mey’s Musique de Tables, and Thomas Gauger’s Gainsborough. Li Biao and Meng Ke’s Dance of the Century – for Percussionists and Chinese Orchestra, will also be making its world premiere.
